The Diploma in Management allows those who have achieved a NEBOSH qualification to add a management qualification to their CVs.

Yes, in order to undertake the Diploma in Management you must have already successfully achieved a NEBOSH qualification.
The Diploma in Management programme has been specifically developed to build on the work you have done to gain your NEBOSH qualification.
The programme is aimed at people preparing for a management role as well as those who already have management responsibilities.
Each module of the Diploma is supported by open learning materials with case studies. You can complete the activities in this material to extend your knowledge and test your skills in areas where you have not yet gained experience of managing.
When answering the assignment questions you can refer to someone else in your organisation who does have management responsibilities and analyse what they do.

When you have successfully completed the programme you will be awarded a Diploma in Management from Manchester Metropolitan University.

When you have successfully completed the programme you will be awarded 60 credit points at NQF Level 5:
Stage One:
- Development Log - 20 credit points
Stage Two:
- Management Module 'Personal Effectiveness' - 20 credit points
- Management Modul 'Leading a High Performance Team' - 20 credit points
The programme is divided into two stages to allow for maximum flexibility.
Stage One consists of:
- Development Log
Stage Two consists of:
- Management Module 'Personal Effectiveness'
- Management Module 'Leading a High Performance Team'
You can start Stage Two once you have successfully completed Stage One: The Development Log.
It is possible to take a break between Stage One and Stage Two if required. Your Programme Manager will be happy to discuss this further with you.
The Diploma in Management is studied on a part time basis. The programme has been designed as a distance learning programme supported by an online Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
There are no face-to-face classes to attend.
The programme has been designed as a distance learning programme supported by an online Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). Learning sets and online seminars via the VLE enable you to communicate with fellow students on the programme.
There are no exams.
The assessment of the modules is by completion of a Development Log and two assignments.
The main areas of support throughout the programme are:
- Academic support from a team of UK based academics
- Online Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) developed specifically for the programme
- Personal guidance from the named programme manager
- Study materials available on the VLE
- Learning sets where you can communicate with fellow students on the programme
- Self-managed study guidance availabke on the VLE

The programme has been designed as a distance learning programme. There is no requirement for any additional tuition.
The programme has been designed to give students maximum flexibility whilst studying. We appreciate that some students will complete the programme faster than others. On average we would expect most students to complete the Diploma in six to nine months.
The time required for personal study, reading and completing the assignments varies from person to person but you should initially allocate between four and eight hours per week.
If you fail an assignment you will be given feedback on what you have to do to meet the required standard. You can then resubmit the assignment. You will have two resubmission opportunities for each assignment.
You will receive your feedback and results within four weeks of submission of an assignment. Your final award and certificate will be issued by Manchester Metropolitan University following confirmation of the marks by the Academic Board.
If you have exceptional factors which prevent you from submitting your assignment or development log on time then an extension can be applied for.
The fee for 2009/2010 is £1,650.
Three payment options:
- A single payment
If your employer has agreed to pay your fees we will invoice your employer directly for the full fees in a single payment.- Two instalments
The first payment of £825 is due on registration and the second instalment of £825 is due at the start of the management modules.- Monthly payment plan (interest free)
The monthly payment plan offers self financing students the flexibility to pay the fees in affordable monthly instalments. £150 is payable on registration, followed by 10 monthly instalments of £150
The fee for 2009/2010 is £1,650. This includes:
- University registration
- Access to the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) and electronic copies of the study materials
- Marking and feedback on the first submission of each assignment
- Feedback on draft Development Log submissions
- Support from the Programme Manager and the Programme Assessors
- Online seminars for the Management Modules
- VLE learning sets
Other possible costs:
- The study materials are available in electronic format as part of the programme fees, however, if you would like a hard copy there is a charge of £65 plus p&p.
- The marking of assignments and the Development Log is included in the programme fee. However, if you are required to resubmit an assessment there is an additional fee of £50 for each resubmission.
- You will need to undertake wider reading. Your local library should be a good resource but you may want to purchase some books.
We will invoice your employer for the fee if this is indicated on your registration form.
Yes, if you, or your employer, would prefer to pay the whole fee at the start of the programme please indicate this on the registration form.

On successful completion of the Diploma in Management you will be awarded 60 credit points at NQF Level 5. You would need to contact the individual university concerned to find out about their degree entry requirements.
The Diploma in Management is a management qualification rather than a health and safety qualification. It is therefore unlikely to be relevant to membership of the health and safety professional bodies.
